Interview: King by R.J Larson Blog Tour

King by R.J. Larson
Fantasy Meets the Old Testament in a Novel That Will Reach Readers of All Ages.
Against his wishes and desires, Akabe of Siphra has been chosen by his people to be King. But what does a warrior know of ruling during peacetime? Guided by the Infinite, Akabe seeks to rebuild the Temple in the city of Munra to give the sacred books of Parne a home. But dangerous factions are forming in the background. To gain the land he needs, Akabe must forsake the yearnings of his heart and instead align himself through marriage to the Thaenfall family.
Meanwhile, Kien Lantec and Ela Roeh are drawn still closer together...while becoming pawns in a quest to gain power over the region. As questions of love and faith become tangled with lies and murderous plots, each must seek the Infinite to guide them through an ever more tangled web of intrigue and danger.

--The Twitter version: tell us about your book in 140 characters or less.
Akabe of Siphra's decision to rebuild his country's Temple of the Infinite creates a lethal conflict threatening his life and his queen's.

--Which character would you most/least like to have dinner with?
Caitria, Siphra’s new queen. However, she’s rather wary of others and would persuade Akabe to accompany her. Caitria and Akabe would least like to have dinner with the conniving Lord Ruestock. Caitria loathes the man, with good reason.
As a hostess, I would sympathize with Caitria. Lord Ruestock has been known to abduct guests after receptions.

--Do you have any other works in progress? Any teasers or release dates?
I am working on a spin-off of the Books of the Infinite series—a kind of parallel tale to King. Official decisions will be made by the publisher later this year. Either way, I’m enjoying writing the story.

--What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read?
I don’t have much time to read. I have a day job, and I write on my days off. My reading time is at night—about five minutes before I fall asleep. However, I read Patrick Carr’s A Cast of Stones several months ago, and enjoyed it. I’m also looking forward to Dragonwitch, by Anne Elisabeth Stengl.

--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?
I love to read, of course, spoil my family, cook, tat, and—sometimes—clean. Scrubbing floors, however, usually means one of my characters is in trouble and I don’t want to write the scene.

--Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?
Thank you! I appreciate you all. 

Lightning round: this or that?

Can’t I write both? Please?
